In this class we will cover shooting film and camera settings such as aperture and shutter speed. Then we will learn how to process and develop the film we shoot into usable negatives, taking the negatives into the darkroom to print them out onto photographic paper using a series of chemicals and red lights. You will cover making contact sheets, making black and white darkroom prints, how to use darkroom chemicals, how to dodge and burn, and other traditional photographic techniques. You will leave the class with a small portfolio of hand printed work, and a deeper knowledge of how black and white analog photography works.
This is a beginner class that is very hands on. Please come prepared to learn and be aware of what you are signing up for before making your payment. If you have specific questions about our class syllabus, please email us at info@gowanusdarkroom.com.
